Summer Intern - Software Developer

DataHouse Consulting, Inc. is seeking a motivated and driven Software Developer Summer Intern to join DataHouse Consulting. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience building real-world applications while developing technical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills in a consulting environment.

At DataHouse, interns are not observers—they are contributors. You will work alongside experienced developers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help deliver meaningful technology solutions that create value for our clients.

Upon exceptional completion of the Summer Internship program, some participants may be invited to continue employment with DataHouse.

Internship Length: 8 – 10 weeks
Employment Type: Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt
Location: Onsite in Honolulu
Anticipated Pay Range: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with developers and project teams to design and build software solutions
  • Contribute to front-end and/or back-end development efforts
    Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
  • Participate in code reviews and agile development processes
  • Assist in debugging, testing, and optimizing applications
  • Work with APIs, databases, and modern development tools
  • Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and leadership on active client projects
  • Contribute to a capstone-style project with final presentation or demo to leadership

What We Are Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Basic knowledge of programming (JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Eagerness to learn and grow as a developer
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) for school/work projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with web development frameworks (e.g., React)
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Exposure to databases (SQL) or APIs
  • Interest in building scalable, user-focused applications

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and computer use
  • Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and via virtual collaboration tools
  • May occasionally lift and carry items such as laptops or materials (up to 15 pounds)
  • Ability to move within an office setting to attend meetings and collaborate with team members
